Queen Marlena's Story

United with her mother after long years of absence, Princess Adora must find out the circumstances of her birth, and learn about her true place in the power hierarchies of Eternia and Etheria.

Why Write?

How is it possible to resist writing about a figure who is labelled the "most powerful woman in the universe"? In my way of thinking, She-Ra is only the latest manifestation of the maiden archetype of the goddess who appears wherever women tell stories.

She-Ra is the huntress and the amazon, mistress of animals, and lady of free and untamed nature. Like her most obvious Greek prototype Artemis, she is the female to a twin brother's male, moon to his sun. Like many virgin goddesses, She-Ra is chaste, but it is perhaps a chastity that stems from a refusal to submit to others. She-Ra retains control over herself, and her lack of a permanent connection to a male figure in a monogamous relationship is the keystone of her independence.

These stories explore those archtypal connections, while trying to stay true to the She-Ra / He-Man universe created by Mattell in the mid-1980's. Despite the presence of disclaimers on many fan-fiction pages, there is no verbal formula that would remove us "writers of Greyskull" from legal liability. I only hope that Mattell and Hallmark and any other entities that can claim to own the likes of She-Ra, Castaspella, He-Man and King Randor will recognize these stories and this website as an act of homage and not a usurpation of their privileges.
